The History of WLAQ
In 1978, a group of eight pioneering women lawyers banded together to establish the Women Lawyers’ Association of Queensland. The creation of our Association was a historic moment. It demonstrated that when women worked together we could achieve more for the advancement of women in the law, than individuals acting alone. WLAQ is proud of the legacy the Committees of years past and has recognised those achievements through the conferral of Honorary Membership. The timeline below captures those women in Queensland who were instrumental in bringing this Association to where it is today.
