Advocate Members

The WLAQ Management Committee has the option of appointing an advocate member.  The criteria for a person being appointed an advocate membership is flexible and not dependent on any one set of terms. There is no requirement for the person to be female, or admitted as a lawyer.  However, the recipient of a advocate membership must have contributed significantly to the advancement of women in the legal profession.

Any person in Queensland’s legal profession may make a recommendation to WLAQ’s Management Committee for consideration of a female as an honorary member.  All enquiries regarding Advocate Membership are to be made to the President by email at president@wlaq.com.au.

On 27 October 2018, WLAQ conferred its inaugural Advocate Membership to his Honour Judge Marshall Irwin for his longstanding support and ongoing contribution to WLAQ and its efforts.
