Today we celebrate International Women’s Day. It is a time for reflection, understanding and most importantly, a time for recognition of what needs to be done as we
#BalanceForBetter. The first observance of a Women’s Day was on 28 February 1909 in New York and was called “National Women’s Day”. At the 1910 International Women’s Conference, it was suggested that March 8 become “International Women’s Day”. In 2019, it is celebrated in countries all around the world and in different ways.
This year, the WLAQ Committee continued with what was the inaugural Inspo List from 2018 and wrote down a list of names of women in law, from Queensland or in Queensland, who have inspired them in their career and life. We are excited to release WLAQ’s 2019 Inspo List and hope that you too are able to draw inspiration from those women. There are hundreds of people in our daily lives who support us in our endeavours and its near impossible to name them all. We thank all of you for your support and for what you are doing to help progress the position of women in the law.
